Honda Civic VTI-L Manual
The Honda Civic has been an iconic car in Australia ever since its inception in 1972. The 8th generation landed in February 2006 generating huge interest and even bigger waiting times. To this current day the lead time for the Civic is approximately 8 to 12 weeks due to the popularity.
The latest edition to the Honda family is powered by a range of 3 different engines for various models. The base model VTI and VTI-L come with a 1.8L engine producing 103kW of power whilst being thrifty on fuel prices. At 6.9 (manual) and 7.2 litres per 100km, it is easy on the hip pocket also. The Sport model comes with a 2.0L engine and the Honda Civic Hybrid is also a leader in eco-friendly cars. The Hybrid model uses the power of petrol to set the car in motion before switching over the electrics.
The first thing you notice sitting in the drivers seat is the somewhat different angle the windscreen is on. It seems to be on a much slighter angle than many other vehicles in Australia and take a little getting used to.
Honda Civic Safety
Safety is a hugely important aspect across the whole range of Honda vehicles and the Civic is no different. ABS comes standard across the whole range of Civics as well as Electronic Brakeforce Distribution which disburses braking between the front and the rear of the car. The VTI-L also comes standard with 4 airbags, the driver and front passenger are protected by front and side airbags, giving you large car safety in a medium sized body.
The Civic has keyless entry to the car, but probably one of the most annoying things is that keyless entry system doesn’t allow for the boot to be opened. After lugging things to the car it is quite frustrating to have to fiddle with the lock on the boot instead of being able to simply pop the boot.
Overall the Civic is a brilliant car and comes with a huge amount of standard equiptment compared to the likes of the Toyota Corolla. Due to the huge demand for the car there are no massive discounts for the Civic.
