BetterDeal has created a virtual dealership, where multiple dealerships bid for
your sale. As you would probably know through the car buying process, a dealer
will only give you their absolute best price on the car when you are sitting at
the dealership in front of them. The reason for this is that the dealers have
control of you in regards to the sale and they believe that they can secure your
signature.
By you the buyer paying for this service you are effectively then ‘sitting
in front of them’ and by showing your financial commitment, our dealers are then
comfortable knowing that you are a committed buyer and that you have paid for the
service of having dealers bid for the right to sell you the car. On this
basis our dealers are happy to submit their best price on the car.
BetterDeal is a service. It means that you get the best price on your car
without having to do the leg work, negotiations, phone calls, faxes and
travelling from one dealer to another. You pay for this so you don’t have to do
the negotiations on your own, and you effectively ‘shop’ at dealerships all
over the city to get the best price on your car.
BetterDeal also offers a full customer service and support package. We are
available to be contacted throughout your auction and we can provide you with

BetterDeal does not have any commercial agreements with any manufacturer and
provides completely independent and unbiased advice on your car purchase.
The success of the service has been the fact that over 96% of people that use the service, purchase the vehicle.
Which means for dealers, there is a very high success rate of using the service,
and they therefore want to win the auction as they know there is a very good chance they will
sell the car.
BetterDeal provides a transparent and fair environment where car buyers can
purchase a new car through an auction process - where the auction is in
reverse; i.e. the price goes down. The benefits for the buyer are that it saves
you money, removes the hassle of obtaining quotes as well as not having to deal
with a car salesperson directly and being chased by all the dealerships you
have visited. You only pay for the service if you save money.
The auction will begin at 9am the next working day and finish at 4pm.
The reason BetterDeal is able to get you the best price, is the genius
bidding system designed for the dealers. Dealers are able to bid as many times
as they want, and more importantly, the can at all times see the current price,
much like E-Bay, so if a dealer is not winning the auction, they know it, and
have to bid again. In one particular auction there were 82 emails sent to the
buyer, as an email is sent each time a bid is made by a dealer! Dealers are
able to have more than one go at the car,which means that every possible dollar
is extracted out the dealers, for your benefit. Bids are in a minimum of $100.
Follow the process prompts set out on the BetterDeal website to select your vehicle,
you will need to review our Terms and Conditions at which point you will be asked
if you accept them. Your auction will commence at 9am on the next business day and
finish at 4pm on that same date. You will be informed of all bids via email
prompting you to view the auction live on the website. At 4pm the winning dealer will
receive your contact details and contact you shortly after.
Dealerships have limited time and resources. Often a
dealership may spend a lot of pre-sales time and money to only have the
business go elsewhere. By presenting yourself as a genuine buyer to the
dealership, they can pass the savings in their sales costs onto you. BetterDeal
licensed dealerships are not spending the average 5 hours it takes to sell a
car if you walk through the door. Therefore by removing some of the dealerships
overheads these savings are taken from the price of your car.
BetterDeal has dealerships located in every capital city across the country.
Dealerships only from your capital city will bid on your car unless BetterDeal
is unable to source your car from your capital city.
If this is the case, then dealers from interstate will bid on your car. The car
will be delivered to your capital city with a permit to drive the vehicle to
the state motor registration office for you to register the car. Please note,
this only occurs if we are unable to provide your car within the time frame, or
interstate dealers are considerably cheaper.
There is no extra cost to you if the car comes from interstate. You will not be
required to travel interstate to pick up your car.
If your state has only one or two dealerships for the particular car you are
wanting, we will engage interstate dealers into the process to ensure you
receive the absolute best price on your vehicle.
On the top of the screen there is a link 'Watch My Auction' you are
actually able to log on to the website and watch the dealers bid live on your
new car! You will also receive an email each time a dealer bids on your new
car.
You are able to enter your quote details on the options screen. Please note
that you will be required to show written proof of this quote if our dealers
are unable to beat this price, in order to obtain a refund.
The only dealership that will receive your details will be the lowest priced
dealer at 4pm. You will then need to make a time to visit the dealership to
sign the contract. Alternatively this process can be organised without you having
to even visit the dealership! Please discuss this with our winning dealer after
4pm. If a trade-in is involved you will need to take the car to the winning
dealer for them to make and offer on your car, remember, that you will also
have We Buy Cars competing with the winning dealer to purchase your trade-in
off you.
BetterDeal has over 350 dealers across the country in the network. Each
dealership is fully licensed by the manufacturer and all warranties and
specials offers are applicable to any car sold on the BetterDeal website.
All vehicles are displayed on the website that are currently in the market
place. BetterDeal upload's new data each Thursday. If the car you are after is
not on the website please contact us and we can make sure the car is available
for you ASAP.
Please ensure that you have ensured the availability of the vehicle you wish to purchase,
as some models have substantial waiting periods.
You will need to enter your credit card into the website before you start the
auction, our fee is only $ 350
(or $150 for current NRMA Members),
regardless of how much you save. The transaction for the car is NOT done over
the internet, this will be settled at the dealership. BetterDeal uses Verisign
128-bit Encryption for your payments.
The time you have been quoted for delivery on the car
from the dealership is the best indication on delivery time. BetterDeal aims to have your car delivered in 42 days.
However if the car is not available in that time frame, please understand that you will be required to wait.
We do stress that the best indication on delivery time is the time that the dealership has already quoted you.
Please understand that if the car is for example not even in the country, then the car can obviously not be
delivered within 42 days!
It is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle you are looking for
is in stock and you are happy with the expected delivery time.
If the vehicle you are after is not available, BetterDeal will
give you a credit to run the auction again once the vehicle is in stock.
In this instance BetterDeal will not refund the registration fee.
If you wish for the car to be delivered to your home or office, please tick the
option in the option page 'Delivery to Home or Office - $150'. This is perfect
for country buyers who want the car delivered to their home, without having to
come into the city to pick the car up. This dealership will deliver the car to
your front door, according to the post code you submit.
BetterDeal aims to provide maximum value to your new car purchase. You are
not obligated to sell your car to the winning dealer.
At 4pm, the winning dealer will be sent your details, including the details
on your trade-in, so when you go into the dealership, they can make an offer on
your trade-in independent of your new car.
The details of your trade-in will also be sent to a company called We Buy
Cars (
www.webuycars.com.au) WBC will
then contact you via phone to make an offer on your trade-in. You then have 2
companies (the winning dealer and We Buy Cars) fighting for the right to
purchase your trade-in!
Naturally, you are still able to sell your car privately.
